Someone asked me what my commissioned pieces can look like when a client wants a finished piece that is "tighter." "Nicholas" is a 16 X 20 portrait in acrylic, using the John Watkiss (search Blogspot) approach to paint build-up method, and is color-glazed. Nick's Mom was elated by this portrait, so much so that I also painted her daughter, Alexandra --- and no, they are not Romanoffs.....
Note the original (not at all well-lighted) reference photo to the left. If I were to do this painting again, I would have "staged" the lighting more in the painting to focus more on the boy's face.
